A major dredging operation by Able UK means greatly improved access to its Able Seaton Port facility on the Tees.

The operation, which took 12 days to complete at a cost of over a quarter of a million pounds, saw two vessels dredge the Seaton Channel providing access to Able Seaton Port – the 126 acre facility that has benefitted from over £60m of investment since being acquired.

Explained Able UK Group Development Director Neil Etherington “We are undertaking a further £25million investment programme at Able Seaton Port which includes an additional 187metres of new quays to ensure that we continue to maintain our position as a world leader in the fields of marine decommissioning and the maintenance and upgrading of offshore rigs…as well as providing facilities for other activities such as offshore wind turbine installation and handling a wide range of large project cargos.

“Earlier this year we took delivery of the largest mobile harbour crane in the Europe, with a with a hook height of 64 metres, reach of 54metres and able to lift over 200 tonnes .

“The dredging operation we have just completed now ensures that vessels with a draft of eleven metres will be able to access Able Seaton Port.”
