ABLE apply the same logic for ship recycling that is used for the decommissioning of offshore structures and offers the largest such facility in Europe.

With the benefit of the large dry dock (25 acres), the facility can accommodate ships up to a length of 366m with no limit on width, or, say 15 ships 200m x 24m at any one time. Maximum draft of ships that can currently be received is circa 13m.

The benefit of TERRC facility is that all operations are undertaken on site with skilled labour including water treatment process for ballast and waste waters, recovery of reusable equipment and processing of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

Ship recycling activities are undertaken in dry dock conditions (unlike the majority of ship breakers yards) and the use of the large dry dock maximises the benefit to the environment.
