ABLE provides the BPEO and applies the same logic for ship recycling that is used for the decommissioning of offshore structures and offers the largest licensed facility in Europe and probably the world.

With the benefit of the large dry dock (9.33 hectares), the facility can accommodate ships up to a length of 350m with no limit on width, or, say 15 ships 200m x 24m at any one time. Maximum draft of ships that can currently be received is 12m.

The benefit of TERRC facility is that all operations are undertaken on site with skilled labour including recovery of reusable equipment and processing of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

Ship recycling activities are undertaken in dry dock conditions (unlike the vast majority of ship breakers yards) and the use of the large dry dock maximises the safety and integrity of the environment.
