Drill Cuttings and Dredgings The TERRC facility offers the ideal offloading point for drill cuttings or dredged materials. Drill cuttings may be contaminated to some degree with lubricating oils and may also be contaminated with heavy metals or sulphides. At TERRC drill cuttings can be offloaded, drained and then either washed to produce a secondary aggregate, or where grossly contaminated, landfilled at the Seaton Meadows site situated 800 metres from TERRC. The residual liquid can be treated prior to removal off site. The infrastructure of this operation is designed to prevent pollution of ground and surface waters and to ensure all wastes from the operation are fully assessed prior to recycling or disposal. Dredgings from industrial waterways may be contaminated with pollutants ranging from hydrocarbons and heavy metals, to pesticides and PCBs. Similarly to drill cuttings, excess liquid can be drained and treated in order that the remaining solids can be landfilled at the Seaton Meadows site. Such an integrated
infrastructure and disposal network offers an unrivalled disposal service
for both drill cuttings and dredgings. |
