Site Engineer – Contractor
OBJECTIVE
As the Site Engineer Contractor for 6 months, you will be the individual responsible to the Project Manager for the delivery of the works to specification and schedule.
You will supervise and manage employees and sub-contractors associated with the works ensuring the specific tasks are carried out to specification and schedule.
You will report any deviation from the project design and specification as soon as you become aware.
You must be well organised, capable, reliable and very commercially aware and use your experience gained in the construction industry.
You must work on your own initiative with the minimum of supervision yet work with the Group management team.
You will be capable of interpreting design drawings/specifications and produce concise records of works undertaken.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
In the absence of the Project Manager, assume their role and responsibilities alongside Works Manager.
Day-to-day management of quality for the works.
Planning of temporary works to coincide with programme.
All setting out of works on site.
Correlation of all ‘as built’ records for the works.
Surveying and monitoring of the works.
Responsible for survey equipment under your control including cleanliness, calibration etc.
Plan and organise material deliveries to suit the construction programme.
Provide daily diary of events to Works Manager.
Plan and monitor works and report any problems as they arise.
Assist with the health and safety and quality control management of projects.
Attend monthly health and safety meetings.
Provide clear and concise construction records for all aspects of the works.
Report and record all breaches of health and safety on site and stop the job if necessary.
Provide near miss and incident reports where necessary.
Overall progress and efficient use of resources, proposing corrective action where necessary.
Plan and manage the deployment of resources to meet your job scope.
Demonstrate effective leadership skills, be able to motivate and supervise effectively whilst maintaining a team-building ethos.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide a daily report/diary of all your activities.
Carry out daily and weekly surveys.
Health, safety and quality of all aspects of the works, along with CQA compliance.
GPS setting out and machine control.
Keep day-to-day records of construction activities on site together with meticulous construction records to include: shuttering, reinforcing works, concreting, pile driving records, stock pile surveys, drilling records, material compaction records and all other records which may be required during the course of the works.
Arrangement of CBR testing and records.
Daily weather records and monitoring.
Produce photographic evidence when needed.
Upload of information to SharePoint.
Develop project specific procedures for the works to be carried out.
Produce method statements and risk assessments for all construction activities.
Ordering of materials to specification and to meet site timescale.
IDEAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
While not all are mandatory, candidates demonstrating a strong combination of these competencies will be highly suited to the position:
SMSTS Certification – Valid Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) card.
Site Engineering Experience – Proven experience working in a Site Engineer role on construction or infrastructure projects.
QA/QC Expertise – Strong background in Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes, including inspections, documentation, and compliance.
Construction Knowledge – Broad understanding of construction principles and practices across civil engineering projects.
Groundworks & Earthworks Experience – Hands-on experience with groundworks, earthworks, and associated site activities.
Civil Engineering Experience – Demonstrable experience in civil engineering projects, including infrastructure and general construction works.
