ABLE’s Luke Donnelly Wins Prestigious Emerging Professional in Decommissioning Award!

ABLE is extremely proud to announce that Luke Donnelly, Decommissioning Manager, has been named the winner of the Emerging Professional in Decommissioning Award at this year’s Decom Mission 2025 Awards. This prestigious accolade recognises outstanding young talent making significant contributions to the decommissioning industry.

Luke’s journey with ABLE began in 2017 when he joined the company straight out of college as an Apprentice Engineer. Now just 25 years old, Luke has rapidly risen through the ranks, demonstrating exceptional technical skill, leadership, and a deep commitment to innovation and sustainability in decommissioning.

Throughout his career, Luke has played a pivotal role in several high-profile projects, including the dismantling and recycling of major oil and gas structures such as the Shell Brent Decommissioning Project. His work has not only advanced ABLE’s capabilities but has also set new benchmarks for safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility across the sector.

Luke’s dedication, ingenuity, and passion for the industry is inspiring, he embodies the future of decommissioning and recycling, and we are incredibly proud to see his hard work and talent recognised on such a prominent stage.

Luke’s award is a testament to the strength of ABLE’s apprenticeship and development programmes, and to the bright future of the decommissioning and recycling industries driven by emerging professionals like him.

ABLE’s Commercial Director Mark Ellis received the award on Luke’s behalf thanking Decomm Mission and the Shell support throughout the Brent Field Decommissioning programme that has ran in parallel to Luke’s impressive journey.
